Why we should continue blogging

Hi to all!
Since we are almost finished history for the year, we are trying to diside if we should continue to blogging for geography. Here are the reasons I think we should keep blogging.

~ First of all i think it's less work for you(miss pollock) and the students.

I think it's less work because you don't have to teach the lesson, than do activites in class, than assignment homework and check it over the next day. We don't as well have to worry about tests either. On blogging we just read on our blogs what to do, than work on the assignments given in class and at home. So it's kind of combinding the work you normally do in class and homework.

It's a more creative and more fun way to do history

I personally like doing things more creative. Like when we have to do a project I would prefer doing it in a play form, instead of just reading text out to the class (As you know). Since you are the best, and that you are doing blogging with us, it's really the only chance we get to do history on the computer. Normally every other teacher and probally everyone else's Geography teacher has thought Geo. normally.

~ It's also a great way to practice and learn all the new things on the computer, and how to blog.

Most people I think haven't done blogging before so for most of us it's a new thing we are doing and figuring all the neat things you can do on your blogs. Also we don't have computer class this year so we also get to also use the computer's, when we blog.

~typing v.s. writing

A lot of people prefer to type their work ratter than wright their work, it's good with the new technology that we can type things on the computer. As you told us last year some people get so used to typing that there hand writing isn't good. Well since we only type things in history, it isn't a problem because we right in all are other classes. It's also great to keep practicing typing, because once you type more you can type faster and then it will help get things done faster.

~Not behind

What's good about blogging is if you miss a day or so of school, you won't be behind because you can just go on your computer at home and start the new assignment. I know what's it's like to be behind, and you have to catch up on all the work you missed when you were away, so this is really helpful. Then as well you don't have to ask the teacher or another student what you missed and copy notes.

~Printing

I found last year that a lot of people had problems with their printers (me included) or they didn't have a printers, so when we had work on the computer to type sometimes it was a problem. This kind of work on the computer is good because we can just submit it on our blogs instead of the whole printing hassle.

~Distractions

As you mentioned, some people find blogging distracting. I understand with people who say some of the temples are distracting. I think what they mean is it's a little hard on the eyes, because i found some a little hard to look at. With distractions from the widgets, i partly agreed but partly not. I think if you want to add a couple widgets to your blog it's fine, but if you have overly too much it can be distracting. With working habits distracting, that i disagree. I think people just have to be a bit more focesed wile working on their blogs and not get distractive. I think people can fix these things though. People with distracting templates can change them. If they really like their temple they can maybe find something simular to what they had before. For the widgets, people can not have a lot on their blogs, just a few. People who get distracted while working will have to try their bests to work on their assignments and once there done they can do other things like, adding more to their blogs or play games.

~class discussions

Class discussion might be a good thing to do.

To make things clearer and to share idea's and maybe read out assignments to each other, or a part of an assignments, or anything to share might a good idea.

Since blogging works better the more we communicate and share idea's together by communicating, by having class discussions it might help with this more.

Times for class discussions:

My idea's of times for class discussions,

E7/8 --- since we have history 3 times a week I think maybe once out of them we can have a class discussion, it depends if you were wanting it the whole class, of maybe half a class? One of those i think is good.

E8C--- I think they have history once a week so maybe a part of their class each week they can have some discussions, if you don't get to one week, then you can have some discussions the next week mabye.

I'm not sure about how many times your other classes should have class discussions, because i don't know how many times they have history each week, but i think you get the idea.

You can also maybe call a discussion random if you want to talk about sometime.

~Not wrong idea

~I am not saying that people who think we should go back to text books has the wrong opinions, I respect what they have to say, just i really think we should keep blogging for the reasons I gave.

I wonder what will happen??

p.s. If we do end up going back to textbooks, I would vote doing history like we did last year. Were we use different sources and other ways to learn history. It's more fun, but blogging is even better.

Wow Sarah! This is a great post. Thanks for putting some much thought into it!

I got your message on my blog. You can have until the Tuesday after March Break to submit your assignment. I am also looking for sites with information to help you all out. I'll post those onto my Assignment #10 post on my blog.

Thanks for all your continued hard work!
